Sale of the Week

Hitsuji, from Noro, has been described as "Kureyon on steroids." A plump, bulky wool that creates colorful stripes, it makes knitting accessories quick and fun.

One of our customers used a single skein to create this delightful monster. You can see her project details on Ravlery.

Hitsuji is 15% through September 4.

Sale of the Week

Silky Alpaca Lace, from Classic Elite, has become one of our favorite yarns. After using it in our Treasure Lace Knitalong this summer we fell in love with it's softness, shine and drape. And since it comes in both solid and variegated colorways there is really something to appeal to everyone's color sense.

It works up into stunning lace like in this stole, Utsukushii, a free pattern from Classic Elite.

It's equally beautiful in simple garter stitch like in the Silky Alpaca Lace Shawl. The shawl, also a free pattern, is worked on the bias with the yarn held doubled for an entirely different effect.

Silky Alpaca Lace is 15% off through August 28.

Cabled Earflap Hat

Our new classes for fall are available on our website. Our Cabled Earflap Hat teaches basic cabling and hat construction. Cables often mystify newer knitters with their seemingly intricate twists and turns but in reality they are very simple. This hat is worked in Cascade 128 Superwash, a lovely, soft, bulky wool that knits up quickly.

The Cabled Earflap Hat runs Saturday, October 1 and 8, from 3:30 to 5:30. Please call us at 206-706-4197.

See It Knit

If you've never read the blog for the Malabrigo yarn company we highly recommend it. It's full of beautiful color and yarn inspiration. Their "See It Knit" posts are especially helpful because sometimes it is difficult to imagine how a variegated colorway will work up. You can see Stonechat, Glazed Carrot, Mariposa and Candombe used in a variety of projects.

Sale of the Week

Last fall, when More Last-Minute Knitted Gifts was released. We were very pleased to be able to offer Nature's Palette Thick/Thin Bulky, the yarn used for the charming elf hat on the book's cover. Hand Jive, the company that made the yarn, closed its doors shortly after the release of the book and many customers have come looking for a substitute yarn. And while there are many other excellent bulky yarns none had a comparable softness and texture to the original. Until now.

Habu has introduced Soft Wool Slub. We have been in contact with the maker of the original yarn and have been assured that Soft Wool Slub is the very same yarn, coming from the same mill! You really need to handle it yourself to believe the buttery softness of this wool. There still is truly no other yarn quite like it.

Soft Wool Slub is 15% off through September 11.
