Fall Knitalong Announced

Our knitalong this fall will feature a flattering and unusual sweater designed by Carol Feller of Stolen Stitches.
   Ravi has interesting construction, with a yoke that’s knit sideways and shaped to fit with short rows. The rest of the sweater is then picked up and knit downwards.
   It features a hem that curves lower in back, also created with short rows, and is finished with i-cord. The sleeves are three-quarter length.
   Ravi can be knit in sport- or DK-weight yarn.
   As usual we’ll kick off our knitalong with a party on September 15. Join us for door prizes and fun (or if  you can’t make the party, cast on by yourself). The full knitalong schedule is listed here.

Great Knits for Noro

You may be familiar with Jared Flood's Noro Striped Scarf. There are over 9100 projects for it on Ravelry. The simple 1x1 ribbing in two shades of self-striping Silk Garden make it simple to knit and an endless delight of interplaying colors.

Designer SpillyJane has just come out with another simple, free pattern for Noro, Kureyon this time, but you can use any of the Noro yarns for it, the Handsome Scarf. Her pattern breaks up the stripes somewhat using a few slipped stitches resulting in a colorful, plush fabric.

Kay Gardiner, of Mason-Dixon Knitting, is raising funds for Mercy Corps with her stunning Mitered Crosses Blanket -- for Japan.



These miters are addictive and incredibly easy to knit, making use again of the wonderful colors of Silk Garden.

Meet Elijah

Elijah is an extremely clever knit from Scottish designer, Ysolda Teague. Elijah is entirely seamless. You knit the head, pick up for the body, pick up for the arms, legs and ears. And then you're done! Just embroider on the eyes and weave in any ends.

The version shown above was knit by one of our staff for a holiday gift in Cascade 220.

EZ's Green Sweater and ABCSJ

We just got a shipment of the Green Sweater pattern, recently featured in Twist Collective. You can read about the discovery of this long-lost design by Elizabeth Zimmermann here and read about its recreation here.

We also got in the ABCSJ pattern. Elizabeth Zimmermann's timeless Baby Surprise Jacket (BSJ) has been upsized and expanded. It now comes in adult (A) and child (C) sizes. The pattern booklet features more fleshed out instructions than Elizabeth's original "pithy" rendition. It also features color illustrations that outline the pattern construction. We are offering a class on the BSJ this spring.
