Easy Basic Hat, 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. $40 plus supplies. First of two sessions. Learn to knit in the round and decrease as you make a simple watchcap. A great class for beginner knitters who already know the knit stitch. Contact the store for registration information.

Sunday: My First Socks, 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. $60 plus supplies. First of three sessions. Learn to turn a heel and create your own, well-fitting socks. Prerequisites: Know how to knit and purl. Contact the store for registration information.

Ravi Knitalong Kickoff Party, 3 to 5 p.m. Join us for refreshments and door prizes as we cast on for our fall knitalong, a top-down sweater with sideways yoke. Free with purchase of pattern.

 

Knit, Swirl Trunk Show

We've long admired Sandra McIver's amazing book "Knit, Swirl" on the shelves. Now we're thrilled to announce that a selection of her wonderful one-piece sweaters will be on view at the store from August 16 to September 1. Come get inspired by her dramatic and flattering designs. Then sign up to make one of your own! We'll be offering a Knit, Swirl class in the fall, showing you how to re-create McIver's innovative style. Class participants will be able to buy "Knit, Swirl" at a 15 percent discount.

Hazel Knits Trunk Show and Sale

Our third annual Hazel Knits event hits the store a week from Saturday, October 20. It continues through October 21.

Seattle indie dyer Wendee Shulsen, owner of Hazel Knits, will be here with her usual bonanza selection of yarns and kits. In addition to the Artisan Sock, which we carry year-round, she'll bring a rainbow of other yarns in different weights and many colors, plus knit samples.

This event is a customer favorite, so be sure to stop by and check it out.

Knitted Wit trunk show

Join us this coming Saturday and Sunday for our Knitted Wit trunk show. Portland-based owner Lorajean Kelley will bring a variety of hand-dyed yarn and fiber to view and buy, and will be on hand to answer questions. Click here to preview Knitted Wit's product line.

Hazel Knits Trunk Show

Do you love the wonderful colors of Hazel Knits yarns? We do, too, which is why we’re excited to announce a weekend-long trunk show on October 23 and 24. Wendee Shulsen, the dyeing talent behind Hazel Knits, will be in the store from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday to meet you and tell you more about her amazing yarn. She will have all her colorways available in her sock yarns, Artisan Sock and Merino-Soy and Lively, a DK-weight Merino blend, as well as kits for baby items, hand-warmers and cowls. The show and sale will run Saturday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday noon to 5 p.m. This is a one-of-a-kind opportunity to see and purchase Wendee’s full line of yarn.

Dale of Norway Trunk Show

Be sure to come by and see our current trunk show from Dale of Norway. Featuring marvelous baby knits from the traditional to the outrageous, this show will get you itching for colorwork and texture.



The show will be on view through January 31.

Basic Chic Hoodie

Bonne Marie Burns, the designer behind Chicknits, has a great sense for what women want to wear. Her designs are stylish, tailored and the first thing you reach for in your closet.



Her Basic Chic Hoodie is an easy knit. It's seamless and knit from the top down. It's written with a plain variation (shown above) and a lace variation (below).



You can see examples of both styles in the shop right now. Our lace version, knit by Cathy, is in Brown Sheep Lana Loft Worsted. The plain style is part of our Dream in Color/Chicknits trunk show from now until November 12. It's knit in Dream in Color's fantastic Classy, a machine-washable, veil-dyed, merino wool.
